THE SNOWMAN — LIVE AT THE PICTUREHOUSE

A magical Christmas afternoon with Stirling Orchestra

Saturday 5 December 2026 | 1pm–5.15pm
Auchterarder Picturehouse

This Christmas, Auchterarder Picturehouse and Stirling Orchestra invite you to spend a magical afternoon in the world of The Snowman.

At the heart of the afternoon is a very special 4pm screening of Raymond Briggs’ timeless classic, accompanied live by Stirling Orchestra. But the magic begins much earlier, with the Picturehouse open from 1pm for a wonderful afternoon of activities, music and festive treats for all the family.

FROM 1PM — CHRISTMAS AT THE PICTUREHOUSE

Come early and make an afternoon of it — everyone is welcome, and you don’t need a performance ticket to join in the fun from 1pm.

Meet The Snowman, collect a free Snowman’s Christmas Passport and complete a series of activities and challenges around the Picturehouse.

There will be Christmas crafts and activities, opportunities to discover more about The Snowman and the orchestra, and plenty of festive food and drink to enjoy along the way.

Every child visiting the Picturehouse during the afternoon can collect and complete their own Snowman’s Christmas Passport — no performance ticket is required to take part.

2PM — BEHIND THE MUSIC: OPEN REHEARSAL

Ever wondered what happens before an orchestra performs live to a film?

At 2pm, we’ll open the auditorium for a special Behind the Music Open Rehearsal with Stirling Orchestra.

This is a chance to see and hear the orchestra preparing for the afternoon’s performance and to introduce younger audiences to the excitement of live orchestral music in a relaxed and accessible way.

Following the rehearsal, children will also have an opportunity to meet some of the musicians, see their instruments close up and discover how the orchestra creates its sound.

Open Rehearsal tickets: £5 per adult
Children FREE with an accompanying adult. Child tickets apply to those aged 16 and under.

The Open Rehearsal is separately ticketed from the 4pm performance.

4PM — THE SNOWMAN LIVE IN CONCERT

Then comes the centrepiece of our afternoon.

Take your seats in the historic Auchterarder Picturehouse and experience The Snowman on the big screen, with Howard Blake’s beautiful score performed live by Stirling Orchestra.

Follow the magical story of a boy whose Snowman comes to life and their unforgettable flight through the winter night — including the iconic Walking in the Air.

There will also be another opportunity for children to meet musicians from Stirling Orchestra following the performance.

4PM TICKETS

Adults — £18
Includes a special commemorative The Snowman programme to take home.

Children — £9

Please note: the 2pm Open Rehearsal requires a separate ticket.

Whether you join us to peek behind the scenes, spend the afternoon completing The Snowman’s Christmas Passport, or experience the magic of the film accompanied by a live orchestra, we hope you’ll make the Picturehouse part of your Christmas this year.

Come early, explore, meet The Snowman and enjoy a magical Christmas afternoon at Auchterarder Picturehouse.
