Psychology of Performance Workshop
Sun Mar 30, 2025 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM
First Baptist Church of Denver, 80203
Description
Join Audacious Immersive and OYN Counseling for a Pay-What-You-Can Acting Workshop.
The Psychology of Performance Workshop will dive into the physiology and psychology of theater performance. Participants will learn ways to regulate the communication between brain and body, and recognize activation cues in themself and their audience. These skills are especially relevant for actors and directors interested in creating immersive performances, with techniques and understanding that allow for performances that can adapt to audiences in the moment. Develop your ability to dive into the psyche of your character (and self) by recognizing relevant personality traits and survival patterns. Learn how to exist as a character in the a real or devised world, creating or understanding core experiences that can bring your character...and yourself...to life!
The workshop will be conducted by Dr. Shawna Urbanski, a licensed clinical psychologist with 20+ years of experience in the field, and Core Creative Team Member of Audacious Immersive, where she has worked in the development and performance of interactive and immersive experiences since 2018. The workshop will run approximately 90 min with a combination of lecture and hands on exercises to apply skills being taught.
Audacious and OYN Counseling are offering this workshop as a Pay-What-You-Can educational opportunity to the Colorado theater and immersive art community. Space is limited so be sure to register as soon as possible.
