Step into a world of legends at Audacious Immersive’s Mythological Petting Zoo, a family-friendly creature encounter with magical critters straight from your favorite folktales!

The Van Helsing Society is welcoming supernatural conservationists of all ages to get up close and personal with these fantastical creatures. Throughout this three-hour open-house-style event, guests can come and go at their own pace as they meet a collection of fantastical creatures and the knowledgeable handlers responsible for their care. Get an up-close look at a (not too scary!) serpent dragon, a troll, a baby kraken and more! Hear the stories and legends surrounding them, and learn a little about what it takes to safely interact with these magical inhabitants of our world.

Young adventurers can make even more of their visit with optional activities available throughout the event, including filling in their own Creature Passport, building a fairy house, and storytelling performances!

Themed food and drinks will also be available for purchase.

The Mythological Petting Zoo is designed as a playful, immersive experience for the whole family. There is no required arrival time — guests are welcome to arrive anytime between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM and explore for as long as they like.

About Audacious Immersive
Audacious Immersive is a Denver-based theatre company specializing in interactive storytelling where audiences become part of the adventure. The Van Helsing Society is our original year-long immersive world that invites audiences to encounter mythological creatures, folklore, and magical mysteries firsthand through storytelling, costumed performers, and puppetry.

Event FAQ

What time does the event start?
The Mythological Petting Zoo is open from 11:00 AM–2:00 PM. This is an open-house-style event, so there is no required arrival time. Guests are welcome to arrive anytime during the event and explore at their own pace.

How long is the event?
The event runs for three hours, from 11:00 AM–2:00 PM, but you do not need to stay for the full three hours. Families are welcome to come and go at their own pace.

What ages is this event recommended for?
The Mythological Petting Zoo is designed as a family-friendly experience for adventurers of all ages. Younger children are welcome with their grown-ups, and activities can be enjoyed at each family’s own pace.

What happens at the Mythological Petting Zoo?
Guests will have the opportunity to meet a collection of mythological creatures brought to life through puppets and costumed performers, including a serpent dragon, troll, baby kraken, and more. Visitors can interact with the creatures and their handlers, hear stories and legends about them, learn about their care, and take photos.

Are there other activities besides meeting the creatures?
Yes! Optional activities will be available throughout the event. Young adventurers can fill out their own Creature Passport, build a fairy house, and gather for live storytelling featuring myths and legends from around the world.

Do we need to arrive at 11:00 AM?
No. There is no scheduled start time for individual guests. You may arrive anytime between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PMand stay for as long as you like.

Are the creatures scary?
Some of our mythological residents may look a little unusual, but the experience is designed to be playful and family-friendly rather than frightening. Our handlers will be available to introduce guests to the creatures and help younger adventurers feel comfortable approaching them.

Will food and drinks be available?
Yes. Themed food and drinks will be available for purchase during the event.

Can we take photos?
Absolutely! Photos are encouraged throughout the Mythological Petting Zoo, especially during your creature encounters.

Can kids come in costume?
Yes! Adventurers young and old are welcome to come dressed in fantasy, folklore, magical creature, or adventurer-inspired costumes.

Where is the event located?
The event takes place at the Van Helsing Society Headquarters inside The Audacious Space, 1373 N Grant St, Denver, CO 80203. We are attached to First Baptist Church of Denver. Enter through the corner entrance at 14th and Grant.

Is parking available?
Yes. Free parking is available in the venue lot on a first-come, first-served basis, with additional street parking available nearby.
