Welcome to the ATX Mahjong Holiday Tournament, hosted by Austin Mahjong Social and Mahj with Marci

Join us at the beautiful 5 Soul Wine Co in Spicewood, Texas for an afternoon of mahj in a stunning Hill Country setting. This event blends structured tournament play with a more relaxed social option - you choose!

We will have light bites, prizes, and all-around great energy. Don’t miss this opportunity to test your mahjong prowess - or simply enjoy a fun, social day with fellow players. See you there!

✨ What to Expect

No Elimination
All tournament participants will enjoy 3 full rounds of competitive play (4 games per round), with prizes awarded based on cumulative scores.

Tournament Pace
Tournament play moves at a brisk pace of 4 games per hour. This format keeps the event running smoothly and ensures fair scoring across all tables.

Prizes
The top three scores will receive non-cash prizes, with the Grand Prize winner receiving a complete Mahjong Table Set Up (tiles, mat, and racks!)

Social Play Tables
Prefer a more relaxed pace? Join a social table and soak up the energy of the tournament without the pressure of competition. 

Please note that our social play tables are located on a covered outdoor patio. While Texas weather can be unpredictable, we’re expecting a lovely fall day! Ceiling heaters are available if needed, as well as fans to help keep everyone comfortable.

If you prefer a more relaxed experience, social play tables are a great option.

Be sure to make time to explore our curated outdoor Mahj Market featuring a small collection of boutique-style brands and merchants. Expect apparel, accessories, gifts, home décor, and other thoughtfully selected finds just steps away from the mahjong action. Trust us, you’ll want to shop this one!

• Doors open: 1:00 PM
• Play begins promptly: 1:30 PM

📋 Important Details

• Tournament follows National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) rules using the 2026 card (please bring your card).
• ⚠️ Pace of Play is Fast and Required
  Tournament play is structured at 4 games per hour, and this is a required pace, not a guideline. If a table is unable to maintain this pace, it impacts scoring and puts all players at that table at a disadvantage. 👉 Please only register for tournament play if you are comfortable playing at this speed.
  (Social players may play at their own pace.)
• Tournament players will receive a Know Before You Go document via email prior to the tournament which outlines tournament structure and rules. As in the past, we will play on designer tiles from various manufacturers and the KBYG document will include tile design guides for any non-standard sets. Please review this important document prior to arrival. 
• Any disputes will be settled by tournament directors.
• Tickets are non-refundable. Please provide at least 72 hours’ notice if you cannot attend or arrange to fill your seat.
