TEDxWinchester Salon - Community Dinner

Wed 30 Sep 2026 7:00 PM - 10:30 PM BST Winchester Cookery School, above Kavi Coffee, 12 Jewry St, SO23 8RZ

TEDxWinchester is building upon 5 successful years of delivering sold-out events in the city and is holding its next TEDx Salon event.

Salons are a unique kind of TEDx gathering which allows conversations to continue, in person, and spark discussions on issues of interest to our local community.

Organised by volunteers, this event will take the format of a community dinner, creating space for another form of shared experience, with short verbal updates from some of the speakers the TEDxWinchester community have heard from over the past 5 years.

We will be hosted by the wonderful team at The Winchester Cookery School - housed above local favourite Kavi Coffee on Jewry Street in Winchester. This beautiful space is run by two award winning chefs, Jay Geddes and Gary Moreton-Jones, who between them have cooked for clients like Sir Paul McCartney, Antony Hopkins, Rihanna , Beyonce , The England national football team, Royal family, Cliff Richard, and Kylie Minogue!

Location: https://maps.app.goo.gl/M31Q8MwSTSccw5zT9

Please Note - there is no lift in this venue, so access is only available via multiple stairs.

We'll be hearing from 3 of our previous TEDxWinchester speakers with short updates on life since their TEDx talks!

We're pleased to announce Zahra Afshar will be joining us after her fascinating TEDx talk in 2025 all about tea.  How much do you really know about the tea in your cup? In Zahra's evocative talk, a third-generation tea entrepreneur and former human rights lawyer challenges how we value tea—and the women who grow it.

Pascal Matthias will be also with us, his impactful 2024 TEDx talk explored the power of changing your language to empower others.  Pascal is a strong advocate for inclusive language, with a transformational and cultural understanding of how language can simultaneously act as a force of limitation and liberation in the EDI space.

Finally, we're thrilled to have Amanda McKenna back with us after her fantastic talk at our first event in 2020.  Amanda advocated for a new quality to the understanding of entrepreneurship – belonging. Her talk took us through why belonging is critical and how can we change our understanding of what an entrepreneur is in light of this.
