Get ready for a wild and beautiful day out! We’re heading to the Isle of May, a stunning National Nature Reserve in the Firth of Forth. Famous for its birds including puffins, seals, and dramatic cliffs, this is a bucket-list Scottish experience. After our island exploration, we’ll head back to the mainland for an optional (but essential!) world-famous Anstruther chippy.
- 📍 Location: Meeting at Anstruther Harbour (Exact boat details sent via email)
- ⏱ Duration: Approx. 4.5 – 5 hours (including boat travel and island time)
- 🐧 The Experience: A boat trip followed by ~3 hours to explore the island’s trails, lighthouses, and wildlife.
- 👯♀️ Who this is for: Girls who love wildlife, photography, and a good coastal breeze!
✨ What to Expect
- The Boat Trip: A scenic sailing across the Forth (keep your eyes peeled for dolphins!).
- Island Exploration: Once we land, you have the freedom to wander the island’s paths. It’s a bird-watcher's paradise!
- The Social: We’ll explore the island at a relaxed pace, with plenty of stops for photos and chat.
- The Chippy: Once back on dry land, we’ll head for an optional social lunch/early dinner at the harbor. Note: Food is pay-as-you-go.
🚢 Important Info & Safety
- Third-Party Booking: The boat crossing is operated by an independent provider. You must follow all safety briefings and instructions from the skipper and the Island Wardens.
- Please aim to arrive around 45 minutes prior to departure time (11:15am). Boarding commences 30 minutes prior to the sailing time.
- Peer-Led Social: This is a community meet-up, not a guided nature tour. The host is a fellow adventurer, not a professional guide or wildlife expert.
- Island Terrain: The paths on the Isle of May can be steep, rocky, and slippery. Please wear sturdy, closed-toe footwear (walking boots or grippy trainers).
- Self-Responsibility: Participants are responsible for their own safety and for ensuring they return to the boat at the designated departure time.
- What to Bring: Binoculars, camera, plenty of water, and warm layers. Even on a sunny day, it is much colder at sea and on the island!
