HORSE RIDING HACK | Tweed Valley Adventure

We’re heading to the beautiful Kailzie in Peebles for a classic Scottish horse riding experience! Nestled in the heart of the Tweed Valley, this location offers a scenic climb through mature woodland, sweeping views across the borders landscape, and fantastic, long tracks perfect for a proper forward ride. Optional post ride social in a cafe in Peebles. 

This is a social, supportive ride designed to get us out in the hills together, enjoy the epic scenery, and share some laughs with fellow adventure-loving girls.

📍 Location: Kailzie, Peebles, Scottish Borders

⏱ Duration: Around 2 hours of riding (in the past we have done 1.5 hours)

🌲 The Terrain: A mix of roads, wide forestry tracks, estate paths, and woodland trails.

👯‍♀️ Who this is for: Experienced riders with a balanced, secure seat. The ability to confidently trot and canter in an english saddle is essential for this ride.

✨ What to Expect

• The Vibe: Supportive, relaxed, and strictly non-competitive. This is all about looking after each other, enjoying the horses, and taking in the views.
• The Pace: Led by the center's professional ride leaders, we’ll enjoy a mix of active walking, balanced trotting, and some exhilarating canters where the tracks allow through the forest. The very start and end of the ride is on a road where there will be other traffic.
• The Host: Sally will be there to greet everyone, ensure the day flows smoothly and bring everyone together.

🐴 What is Provided & Kit Requirements

• The Horses: You will be paired with a fit and forward horse, most of which are quite tall. They have a personality and are a mix of Draft Horses, Irish Cobs, Irish Sport Horses and Connemaras.
• Safety Gear: Riding hats can be borrowed from the center if required. You must wear appropriate footwear with a smooth sole and a small heel (no trainers).
• Clothing: Dress for the Scottish hills! We recommend comfortable riding tights/jodhpurs, layers, and a good waterproof jacket. Avoid loose, flapping clothing that might spook the horses.

⚠️ Safety & Booking Reminder

This ride is fully hosted, guided, and insured by Kailzie Equestrian. Their professional ride leaders are there to ensure a safe and enjoyable route. However, horse riding is an outdoor adventure sport with inherent risks. All participants will be required to complete a rider registration form prior to setting off.

Please note: For the welfare and safety of the horses, we have a strict maximum rider weight limit of 95KG

Horses are hardy, but the riding center may reschedule or cancel the ride if the weather or ground conditions become unsafe.
