AWAY WITH THE GIRLS 21+
Join Away With Adventures, Away With The Girls Group on a private fast paced ride onto the Lauder Common. We will be riding over some of the common ride trails, across fields and up hills to gain some great views. Please note the common ride is not actually on, we are going on some of the route that it would take. Optional post ride social in a nearby cafe.
📍 Location: Lauder
⏱ Duration: Around 2 to 3 hours of riding (depending on the pace of the group)
🌲 The Terrain: Mix of roads, hilly and open landscape with a combination of rough moorland and grassy tracks
- Pace: Fast & Dynamic (Walk, Trot and fast paced Canter which could possibly lead into Gallop - the horses can be a bit more forward going out in the open)
⚠️ Rider Requirements
Prerequisites: Must be fully confident controlling and riding a horse in open spaces at all paces on an english saddle (Walk, Trot, Canter, and Gallop). You must have recent previous experience hacking outside of an arena at these paces. Secure, balanced seat and quick reactions to sudden horse movements (spooks, surges). Good fitness level suitable for fast-paced riding. This will not suit someone who has not ridden in years or who doesn't have experience in 2 point.
🐴 What is Provided & Kit Requirements
- The Horses: You will be paired with a fit and forward horse, most of which are quite tall. They have a personality and are a mix of Draft Horses, Irish Cobs, Irish Sport Horses and Connemaras.
- Safety Gear: You must bring your own safety approved riding hat and riding boots. Body protectors are recommended.
- Clothing: Dress for the Scottish hills! We recommend comfortable riding tights/jodhpurs, layers, and a good waterproof jacket. Avoid loose, flapping clothing that might spook the horses.
- The Host: Kathryn will be there to greet everyone, ensure the day flows smoothly and bring everyone together.
⚠️ Safety & Booking Reminder
This ride is fully hosted, guided, and insured by Kailzie Equestrian Ltd. Their professional ride leaders are there to ensure a safe and enjoyable route. However, horse riding is an outdoor adventure sport with inherent risks. All participants will be required to complete a rider registration form prior to setting off.
⚠️ Insurance:
Kailzie Equestrian requires riders to have their own Public Liability Insurance and Personal Accident insurance, it is currently £9 per month from the BHS or £5.75 from Harry Hill.
Please note: For the welfare and safety of the horses, we have a strict maximum rider weight limit of 95KG
🌧️ Weather
It is Scotland after all, the riding center may change the location of the ride, reschedule or cancel if the weather or ground conditions become unsafe.
