This April is the perfect moment to connect and align intentions, and prepare for transition into movement toward the warmth of summer.
This session, guided by Baby Cobra Yoga teacher - Maren Westgard, includes: moderate movement, visualization meditations, breathwork, and an extended savasana all surrounding the theme of Earth, and our deeply interconnected place within it.
We kindly ask you to register. There is a ticket price of $5, which will be donated to Climate Words. Bring your friends, bring your yoga mat, and meet us at Carroll Hall in Bushwick (2 Vandervoort Pl, Brooklyn, NY 11237). We envision spending a warm Saturday mid-morning session in the sunny garden. Should the weather shower the city with rain, there is an equally beautiful indoor space at Carroll Hall to shelter our event.
There will be drinks and sustainable merch. Climate Words totes are organic cotton, tees are 100% recycled post-consumer cotton made in USA and printed with black algae ink, stickers are made from wood pulp, and bookmarks are responsibly printed with compostable inks.
Maren Westgard is a yoga teacher & climate activist, trained by Arise Yoga in Brooklyn. Her past climate work includes involvement in Wesleyan University’s Climate Action Group, Sunrise Movement Middletown, and Sunrise Movement Connecticut. She is passionate about the intersection between the individual and the collective in yoga, highlighting the connection between regeneration and resistance.
Carroll Hall is a rare and unexpected event space featuring a botanic garden in Brooklyn. Whether an eccentric insect or vignette through a wall opening, we revel in curiosity. Ultimately, the garden is the heart of Carroll Hall; the promise of a quiet moment outside is our grounding force. Our commitment to sustainability is reflected in the very foundation of our space, which uses original bricks, existing ceramic brick walls from the prior warehouse structure, and most of the interior wood. Automated natural ventilation helps us regulate the temperature of the indoor spaces and a sub-ground 5000-gallon water tank collects and filters water run-off for garden irrigation. We encourage our event partners to make environmentally responsible choices, such as using sustainable inserts for floral arrangements, compostable serving ware (when ceramics aren’t an option), and donating leftover food to community fridges.
Happy April and see you there!
