The Meridian Yoga Technique (MYT) developed by Dr. Rose Erin Vaughan, blends Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with yoga for a comprehensive practice that helps you to cultivate harmony in your body, mind, and spirit.

About the practice: This series of yoga poses, self-acupressure, breathwork, sound purification, and meditation practices utilize the TCM Meridian pathways and points to connect our experience in our physical bodies to our deeper emotional and energetic experiences, so you can heal from within.

We will focus on Late Summer and the corresponding Earth Element, exploring yoga techniques to support your Stomach and Spleen meridians. In Chinese Medicine, Late Summer is a season of its own, focusing on grounding and nourishing yourself, moving from the most Yang time of the year, into Yin.

  • Your Stomach receives and breaks down food, and is one of the most important organs in your system. Strong digestive energy supports physical, emotional, and mental strength, and imbalances/deficiencies correspond with anxiety and digestive ailments such as IBS.

  • Your Spleen helps you extract and transform food and nutrients into Qi (life force). It governs your blood circulation, and dysregulation of your spleen energy can correspond with bloating, feelings of heaviness/sluggishness, mental fatigue, overthinking, and mental rumination.

By working with these organs and meridian pathways, you can support yourself emotionally, identify and help heal tension patterns and digestion imbalances, and develop awareness of deeper energetic pathways, as they relate to your emotions, inner world, and physical body. :)

Our bodies hold deep innate wisdom, and the capacity to heal ourselves from within. MYT helps you to tap into this; as you build awareness of the subtle energy in your body and the complex and intelligent systems within, you can form a more holistic relationship to your body, emotions, and being.

What to expect: You can expect a grounding practice that deepens your experience in classic yoga poses, expands your body awareness, and teaches you about the TCM meridian pathways, focusing on the Earth Element and Late Summer. Whether you are new to Traditional Chinese Medicine or are an experienced practitioner, you can expect to expand your awareness of these pathways and how you can move the energy through movement, breath, and awareness.

You may experience emotions surfacing as we move through the practice. MYT is designed to help you balance and release these emotions in a safe and trauma-informed setting, so that you can return back to your true center: loving awareness ˗ˏˋ ♡ ˎˊ˗

This practice is beginner-friendly and all-levels, beneficial and engaging for the first-time yogi and the longtime practitioner alike.
