Salsa On2 Advanced Beginners 6-week Series on Tuesdays at La Cosecha

*Note: This Level 1.5 is for Advanced Beginners and occurs on Tuesdays. Currently, our Absolute Beginner class on Mondays is sold out. Join us for our next Intro Salsa class at our next Baila Thursday social. 

Continue to learn the basics of salsa dancing On2 with Baila DC for six weeks, starting Tuesday, March 12th and ending on April 16, 2024. 

This class is recommended for students who have taken the Level 1 Foundations 6-week series with Baila DC at least once. 

*Stay after each class Tuesday class for our free 30-minute practice social to practice what you've learned!

• 7:00 - 8:00 PM - Level 1 Foundations Salsa - upstairs on the Balcón of La Cosecha
• 8:00 - 8:30 PM - Practice Social (free for all Baila DC students!)

Course Description

This progressive 6-week series class is intended for beginner students and introduces the salsa on2 basics and foundational concepts. Throughout the six weeks we will continue to focus on timing, musicality, building on the layers of the salsa basic step, learning left and right turns, simple footwork drills, and progressing with introductory partner work techniques that are fundamental to basic On2 salsa.

By the end of the class you will be proficient in:

• Leading and following steps to a basic salsa rhythm
• Executing left and right turns with and without a partner
• Simple footwork drills (side basic, back basic, and other “on-tempo” shines)

You will also be introduced to:

• Cross-body-lead steps and signaling for both leads and follows
• Combining steps and changing their direction to create your own shines

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event? 

Parking in La Cosecha Parking Garage is free for the first 3 hours and $12 thereafter. Ample free parking is available in the lot in front of Union Market or on the street. Metro Access. Take the Red Line to the NoMA-Gallaudet U stop. Bus Access. The market is accessible by the U St-Garfield Metrobus lines (90, 92 and 93).
