Description
There’s never been a more charming whimsical cake and you can make it. In this hands-on class students will learn to make chocolate bark and assemble a cake adorned with edible moss, meringue mushrooms, ferns, and more. Class is split over two days as some components need to be set overnight before the final assembly of the cake. no experience is necessary and everything is provided. So come ready to learn a new skill while making a beautiful cake.
Students will:
- make wood-like bark with chocolate
- make a variety of mushrooms from meringue, fondant and gum paste
- make edible moss and other edible flora
- fully assemble a chocolate adorned with everything made in class
- leave with the knowledge to re-create this luscious delight as a uniquely beautiful presentation
Age requirement: Minimum age for this class is 16
Skill level: Beginner to intermediate. Students will all work at their own pace
April 13th, Day 1: Class time will go from 10:00 - 2:00 PM
April 14th, Day 2: Class time will go from 10:00 - 2:00 PM
Take home:
- Your completed Enchanted Forest Cake and knowledge to re-create it.
BREAK
Students will be given a 30-minute break halfway through class. Students are encouraged to bring their own lunch as area restaurants can get busy.

ARTIST PAT ASHLEY HOWARD
Pat Ashley Howard is a nationally acclaimed confectionery artist best known for her award-winning gingerbread houses. In 2006 she created her first-ever gingerbread house and won the annual National Gingerbread House Competition which features hundreds of diehard gingerbread artists yearly.
The following year she won the grand prize again and a third time in 2011. Since then Pat Ashley has made numerous appearances on the Food Network, The Travel Channel, and TLC to name a few. Her creations have been featured many times on Good Morning America, on display for Ripley’s Believe it or Not, and in Cake Masters magazine.
Gingerbread houses and cookie and cupcake decorating are her other passions and she loves sharing and teaching the craft! But when she’s not baking most likely you’ll find her engaging in her other love …f folding colorful scrapbook paper into boxes and bags and creating party favors for friends and family!
