Ratling is an action packed comedy thriller set in a sleepy town in Ireland in the 1990s.
A woman is woken up by a rat.
Jackie is wasting away in her bathtub. Caught in a loop of apathy and disappointment, she retreats into a world of fantasy.
All set to a live musical score she obsesses over apocalyptic visions featuring a sweaty rugged Bruce Willis, and anything vaguely American.
Just as these fantasies threaten to consume her, she has a profound and revelatory encounter with a rat. This meeting shakes her to the very core and suddenly she is more alive than ever.
Released from her torpor, what will Jackie do with her newfound vitality? Is this a fresh start or the beginning of a dangerous reckoning?
This is a new show from Scotsman Fringe First Award winner Genevieve Hulme-Beaman.
Sound design, live music and performance by Cameron McAuley.
Directed by Róisín O’Mahony one half of cult comedy duo Róisín and Chiara.
