Rooted in Faith – Monthly Islamic Youth Circles
A space for young Muslims to learn, question, connect and grow in faith.
Barakah Madrassa is excited to launch Rooted in Faith, our new series of FREE Monthly Islamic Youth Circles for boys and girls in Sheffield.
Growing up as a young Muslim today comes with many opportunities, but also many questions, pressures and challenges. Rooted in Faith has been created to give young people a welcoming and meaningful space where they can strengthen their relationship with Allah (SWT), increase their Islamic knowledge, explore their Muslim identity and build friendships with other young Muslims.
These circles are not simply about sitting and listening to a lesson. We want our young people to talk, discuss, debate, ask questions, reflect and engage. Each month will explore relevant Islamic topics through age-appropriate discussions, stories, reminders and activities, helping young people understand how Islam connects to their everyday lives.
🌱 What is Rooted in Faith about?
Our aim is to help young Muslims become confident in their faith, grounded in their identity and supported as they navigate growing up.
Through the monthly circles, young people will have opportunities to:
- 📖 Increase their Islamic knowledge and understanding
- 🤲 Strengthen their connection with Allah (SWT)
- 💬 Ask questions in a safe and non-judgemental environment
- 🌍 Explore what it means to be a young Muslim today
- 🧭 Learn how faith can guide them through challenges, tests and difficult situations
- 🌱 Develop good character, confidence and a stronger Muslim identity
- 🗣️ Discuss and debate topics that are relevant to their lives
- 🤝 Meet and build friendships with other young Muslims
- 💡 Learn through stories, Islamic teachings, discussions and reflection
- ❤️ Discover the sweetness and beauty of faith
- 🌟 Have positive Muslim role models they can learn from and speak to
- 🌿 Grow together as part of a supportive Muslim youth community
Our circles will focus on Tarbiyyah – supporting the development of the whole young person, not only increasing knowledge but helping them put their faith into practice in their character, choices, friendships and everyday lives.
👦👧 Separate, age-appropriate circles
We recognise that children and teenagers are at very different stages of their lives. Sessions will therefore be delivered through separate circles for boys and girls, with age-appropriate content and discussions.
Boys: 9–16 years
Girls: 7–11 years and 12–18 years
This will allow young people to explore topics at the right level for them and feel more comfortable contributing, asking questions and sharing their thoughts.

🌳 Why “Rooted in Faith”?
Just like a tree needs strong roots to grow, withstand changing seasons and continue flourishing, we want our young people to develop strong roots in Islam.
As they grow older, they will face new experiences, influences, questions and challenges. Our hope is that by nurturing their faith from a young age, they will have a strong foundation to return to – knowing who they are, what they believe and where they can turn for guidance.
Learn. Discuss. Debate. Grow. Engage. Transform. Tarbiyyah. Role Modelling. Inspire.
We would love for your young person to join us for the beginning of Rooted in Faith on Sunday 20th September, inshaAllah.
May Allah (SWT) place barakah in these circles, make them a source of beneficial knowledge and guidance, and raise a generation of young Muslims who are confident, compassionate and firmly rooted in their faith. Aameen.
