2023/24 Race Around The Region - Round One (pt 2)

In the words of Geordie Royalty “Let’s get ready to rumble!!”....again..

Round One of Race Around the Region kicks off eventually now the snow has disappeared a little later than expected  Once again we’ll tour Co Durham, Teesside, Northumberland and Yorkshire.  It’s a great opportunity for a relaxed introduction to how BMX racing works, meet some new friends and just have a rest good laugh.    3 rounds to qualify, best 3 results decide the standings.

Remember your age group is based on the your on 31st December 2024!!!!  

10:00 - Registration opens. Once you've registered you can start practice on the track

11:00 - Gate Practice

12:00 - RACING STARTS.... LETSSS GET READY TO RUUMMMMBBBLLLEE!!

Finish roughly 2:30ish......

Each round will consist of Novice (George Webster Memorial) and Expert categories across all age groups and finishing at the top end of the ages, 15/16.

'Flat Pedal Series', who will take home Action Man or Action Barbie this year in what is ALWAYS the most coveted trophies of them all!!   Remember, flat pedal series is ANY bike you want (well, no motorbikes), as long as you're on flat pedals, no clips allowed! Possibly the ballsiest racing class there ever will be!!

CLIP-CLASS -  Don't fancy the flat pedals, this year by popular demand we have 'Clip Class'  same format as the Flat Pedal - 16 and over, this will be a mix of Cruiser & 20", but no mountain bikes (exception for Jump Bikes) just for a bit of safety... no one wants a Raleigh bomber screaming towards em with their feet clipped in!

What category should you be in??  BMX is based on the age you are on the 31st December, in this case, as our race series pushes into 2024,you go in the category based on your age on 31/12/2024.. so if you're 7 now, you'll go into the 7&8s....Simple.  Don't worry we'll see you right.

If you need to borrow any equipment, it's not a problem, but if you need a bike, can you let us know as soon as possible to make sure we have enough, but as it's a bit of serious fun, whatever 2 wheels you're comfortable on will do.

Each round works to your over all points score at the end.  Compete in 3 rounds and you'll qualify for a trophy, but we'll take your best 3 results and add them together to get the final standings.  Will you be taking home a coveted George Webster Memorial Trophy for your age group and have your name etched into eternity??

The series if for Novice and Expert, but swaying a bit to helping people learn about racing, so there'll be plenty of people on hand to help you out, show you how things work in a relaxed, easy going environment. The team will explain how all the race sheets work so you know when and where you need to be.
