An Autumn concert of Gounod and Saint-Saens

The combined forces of Barnet Symphony Orchestra, Queen's Park Singers and the Royal Free Music Society come together for an evening of theatrical splendour, deep devotion and spectacular orchestral music.
Gounod’s Mass for St Cecilia is being performed, appropriately, on St Cecilia’s day celebrating the patron saint of music and musicians. Full of grandeur, drama and beautiful choral writing, it's a wonderful piece both to perform and hear.
We will also be performing Saint-Saens’ magnificent Organ Symphony, a work into which the composer said he had put everything and doubted he could ever surpass. There's really no substitute for hearing its famous finale live, especially in a venue like the Free Church.
We start the concert with Lili Boulanger’s moving reflection on a fallen soldier, "Pour les funerailles d'un Soldat".
NOTE - our last concert together sold out so we're also offering tickets to the dress rehearsal in the church on the afternoon of November 22nd from 2:00pm to 5:00pm with tea included. As it's a rehearsal there may be some stopping and starting but we'll keep this to a minimum.
