Traditionally ceramic objects were created & glazed with only natural components : wood ashes, rocks reach, minerals, mud & natural pigments. We invite you to rediscover the diverse pallet of colors and materials that nature has to offer.

This workshop is a full on inmersion into artistic practice of Elizaveta Barsega, who has been working with natural materials since 6 years, conducting her research around the world and numerous studio experiments.

Together with Elizaveta you will dive into the history of natural glazes, go through the essential basics of glaze chemistry in a hands-on way and explore the endless possibilities of embodying natural components in your creative practice. You will learn how different minerals modify in the fire and how to work along with this transition.

You will learn the oldest traditional recipes and ways to transform them into endless glaze possibilities. All the participants will be invited to the "Glaze Buffet", where over a dozen of natural glaze components line up awaiting for your hands to do the magic of creating your own mixture.

Exploring glazes by the power of intuition and empirical research is the moto of current workshop.

The workshop is accessible for absolute beginners, no prior knowledge of glaze mixing is required.

Elizaveta Barsega is a potter, a teacher, poet, ritualistic wonderer, traveler, and founder of Barsega Studio Gallery. In the spin of the past 6 years, she has welcomed over 500 students in her pottery classes in person as well as online. Seeing how people felt touching clay, she realized that pottery is one of the most grateful ways to get grounded, feel human, calm and present.

Current online workshop is based on the studio's material research and the personal experience and research of Elizaveta on natural glazes, conducted  past experiences of research trips and studio experiments.
