Start-Up Special #2: Tech, AI and Innovation

What are Start-Up Specials?

Start-Up Specials are a series of networking events co-hosted by the University of Bristol (Basecamp Enterprise Team) and the University of the West of England (Student Ventures Team - UWE Enterprise Team). 

They are designed to showcase local entrepreneurs who have started up and represent a diverse range of sectors, to inspire and inform and to foster meaningful conversations among like-minded individuals.

 Start Up Specials are a relaxed and informal way to hear the start-up stories from a variety of different perspectives. They offer you the opportunity to questions directly to these founders, your enterprise support teams and then network with other attendees afterwards. 

What's on?

Start-Up Special #2 is perfect for anyone interested in starting a Tech, AI or an Innovation-driven venture, or maybe is simply curious to learn more about these industries. 

This event features a series of lightning talks from inspiring entrepreneurs, including:

• Luke Ashman and Emma Colwill – Founders of Not Impossible

• Ammar Akhtar – Founder and CEO of Final Rentals 

• Olivia Edgar - Co-Founder of FormFighter AI

• Special guest: Nigel Stone - Innovation and Growth Specialist at Innovate UK, UKRI

Join us for an afternoon of dynamic 10-minute talks from our expert guest speakers. They will share insights into their entrepreneurial journeys, the ventures they have built, industry trends, and practical advice for aspiring student entrepreneurs. Each talk will be followed by a 10-minute Q&A session, giving you the chance to engage directly with the speakers.

The remainder of the event will be dedicated to open networking. This is an opportunity to connect with fellow students, entrepreneurs, and professionals in a relaxed and collaborative environment.

Event Agenda

• 16:00 - 16:20 - Welcome and Arrival

• 16:20 - 17:45 - Talks and Q&A from our guest speakers

• 17:45 – 18:45 - Networking, with light snacks and drinks provided

• 18:45 – 19:00 - Leaving time

Finding the Venue

You can enter the venue through either of the main doors (Broadmead or The Horsefair). Please walk to the wishing well (pictured below), located in the centre of the store. From there, you will see the white staircase leading up to the event space.  

The venue is equipped with a lift. Please note that the lift requires a staff member to operate. If you have any accessibility requirements, please email us at Enterprise@uwe.ac.uk and we will make the necessary arrangements for you. Please note that the lift will not be operational after 6 pm. 

Can no longer make the session?  Please ensure you cancel your booking with 24 hours notice so that other students are able to attend in your place.

There is no on-site parking at Sparks. The nearest available parking is at:
