Apple Tree Pruning Workshop
Apple Tree Pruning Workshop
Need help?
Join Jude our Community Grower and Conservation Coordinator at the farm to learn how to prune the apple trees in the farm’s orchard.
Content we will cover includes:
Why and how to prune trees, the difference between winter and summer pruning and pruning using different tools including handsaws, secateurs and loppers.
Please let us know if you have any allergies or accessibility needs.
There is a short walk down the hill to the location of the workshop (approx 5 minutes).
Wheelbarrows will need to be pushed, and tools will need to be carried by participants – please let us know on the day if you are unable to lift or push tools.
What to bring:
Please bring/wear weather-appropriate clothing, and please wear gloves and sturdy boots if you have them. Gloves and boots can be borrowed from the farm if necessary.
We will provide all tools for the day and safety equipment where required.
Facilities:
The farm’s café will be open and workshop participants can purchase lunch.
When at the farm you’ll have access to our volunteer kitchen and there will be tea/coffee breaks throughout the day. The kitchen is equipped with fridge, kettles, microwaves, plates, cutlery etc. You’re very welcome to use any of these but please do clear up when you have finished as these facilities are shared.
There are toilets located in the main farm building, including one inclusive and accessible toilet.
