Seated movement and dance - ReBalance Festival
Mon 3 Feb 2025 10:30 AM - 11:30 PM
Assembly Rooms, Bennett Street, Bath, BA1 2QH
Description
Organised by Bath Institute for Rheumatic Diseases in partnership with Bath Arts Collective as part of their 50th anniversary celebrations, this event within the ReBalance festival, led by Sam Grief aims to build confidence, a sense of togetherness and even enjoyment in those with movement restrictions such as - but not only - patients with arthritis, bone and joint conditions. All are welcome. Held at the Assembly Rooms, a place where in Georgian times people came to learn to dance having taken the curative spring waters in the morning, so seated dance for those with arthritis or similar is in the spirit of a long tradition! Of course, you may want to check with your GP that this is an appropriate activity for you, if you’re in any doubt.
Sam Grief is a trained community dance practitioner and is on a mission to share the joy of music and dancing. As well as running her own sessions, she works with a number of local charities including ReMind UK, Curo, St Johns and Wiltshire Rural Music Trust. She will lead a fun seated dance session designed to ensure everyone can enjoy moving to music in a safe and supported way. Research shows that dancing is great for your overall wellbeing.”
