Synopsis of <The Entrepot>
Farewell, is probably synonymous to a weekend passtime to some Hong Kongers. As the view from the Taxi window dashes by, the couple on the passenger seats is affirmative that this is not the view they are familiar with anymore. This is not the first family the taxi driver sent off for  departure, he lit a cigarette and raised a toast to the fetters that kept him here.

The alarm rang, waking Yan up into a world of absurdity. The school is under siege by her new, Orwellian policies and “Special Security”. In an environment where denouncing your neighbors is encouraged, how far can a teacher go to protect her students? Is this a nightmare we could wake up from?

What are we working so hard for if there is no tomorrow? Three young lads went on a bicycle trip revisiting some memorable places and moments in their friendship, their laughter broke the silence of the city in the dusk. Tomorrow, Wei could be losing his freedom; it is difficult to imagine a future when there isn't even a day after tomorrow. He began to ponder with his mates whether they were trying hard to change the future or not. Perhaps they were just trying hard to retain the precious things from the past.

These three stand alone shorts are a reflection of the state of Hong Kong in 2021; this city is as always, an entrepot.

Synopsis of <To be Continued>

Convenient, tired and vapid, ‘East-meets-West’ is a cliché that has for decades been used to sell the ‘Hong Kong story’ to the world. Yet in the forgotten legend of Harry Odell, Hong Kong’s first impresario, a rediscovery of the city’s soul awaits.

Flamboyant and cigar-chomping, Odell was a Cairo-born, Shanghai-bred Russian Jew who stamped his mark on the cultural life of post-war Hong Kong, His hopeful, if chronically loss-making adventures pushed the cultural frontiers of his adopted home, capturing the open, dynamic and inclusive spirit of a bygone era to leave a legacy that resonates to this day.

What began as a conservation campaign to save the iconic State Theatre in Hong Kong morphed into five years of research and interviews with those who witnessed Odell in action. The result: a film that is as much a study of one indomitable pioneer as it is a soul-searching journey of what defines Hong Kong.
