This inspiring course combines our Bats and Woodland Management Foundation e-Learning session with a one-day in-person session, which includes a 2.5-hour interactive site visit, exploring Potential Roost Features (PRFs), learning how to do a daytime walkover assessment and discussing the woodlands and their management. This supports attendees in developing their understanding of the theory and practice of managing woodlands for bats.

Led by BCT's Woodland Specialist, Sonia Reveley, there will be ample opportunity to ask questions and glean valuable insights from Sonia's knowledge and experience. Invaluable CPD if you are a professional woodland manager or enthusiastic woodland owner.

The theory portion of the course covers the needs of bat species in a woodland habitat, outlines the practical application of woodland management, covering what benefits bats and what doesn't - what is good for bats, what isn’t and to think outside your woodland, shares potential roost feature recognition and case studies - showing examples of good practice in woodland management and bats, including an overview of the relevant legislation, empowering course attendees to make informed and beneficial decisions about the management of their own woodlands in the future. It will also signpost participants to good practice guidance on how to check your woodland for protected species and how you should operate when they are present to maintain the health of your trees, ensure the safety of woodland users as well as supporting the wildlife that lives there and to other available resources.

Price includes refreshments and lunch on the day as well as the foundations e-learning module which is to be completed ahead of the in-person course.
