Sun 25 Oct 2026 10:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Join us at Penllergare Valley Woods for a practical day investigating potential bat roosting features (PRFs) identified by volunteers during our PRF Finding Day the previous day.

The day is aimed primarily at individuals with a licensed to endoscope who would like to volunteer their time and expertise to support the Whispers of the Woodlands project. It is also suitable for individuals looking to gain further practical experience in endoscoping potential roosting features.

We’ll spend the day using endoscopes to investigate the PRFs identified by volunteers and, where appropriate and safe to do so, there will hopefully be opportunities to access features by tree climbing.

The climbing element will provide an opportunity for experienced licensed climbers to share skills, knowledge and best practice, while giving others the chance to build their confidence and experience under appropriate supervision.

By taking part, you’ll be helping Penllergare Valley Woods to better understand the bat biodiversity within the woodland and identify trees and features that may be important for bats.

This is a great opportunity to contribute your time and expertise to a conservation project while gaining valuable practical experience and connecting with other bat surveyors and climbers.
