Comedy Republic Presents: Live Comedy at Bearwood Brewing

For the very first time, live comedy is coming to Bearwood Brewing! 🍻🎭

We’re teaming up with Comedy Republic to transform the Bearwood Taproom into a comedy club for one night, bringing an incredible lineup of established comedians to Wokingham for our first ever comedy night.

Headlining the evening is internationally acclaimed comedian and storyteller Matt Price, joined by BBC New Comedy Award winner Yuriko Kotani and acclaimed Scottish stand-up Stephen Carlin. Keeping everything moving will be Wokingham’s own Victoria Smith, hosting the night.

Come down early, grab a beer, get some food and settle in before the comedy begins. The taproom will be open from 5pm, with food available before the show – more details coming soon! Doors for the comedy open at 7pm, with the show starting at 8pm.

Tickets are £15.95 per person and spaces are limited.

The Lineup

Headliner: Matt Price

Originally from Cornwall and now based in London, Matt Price is an internationally acclaimed stand-up comedian and storyteller known for his warm stage presence, quick wit and exceptional crowd work.

Matt has performed at some of the UK’s leading comedy venues, including The Glee Club, Komedia and Top Secret Comedy Club, as well as touring internationally across Australia, Europe and Southeast Asia.

His comedy combines hilarious real-life stories with brilliant spontaneity, covering everything from his brief stint as a heavyweight boxer to encounters with some rather unusual characters.

Matt is also the creator and host of the podcast Conversations with Criminals and a regular performer at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Yuriko Kotani

Yuriko Kotani is a UK-based Japanese comedian and winner of the BBC New Comedy Award 2015.

Named as “one to watch” by Time Out, Yuriko has appeared on Mandy (BBC Two), The Horne Section TV Show (Channel 4), Russell Howard’s Stand Up Central, Pointless Celebrities (BBC One), Pls Like (BBC Three), Paul Hollywood Eats Japan (Channel 4), Sorry, I Didn’t Know (ITV) and Comedy Central Live.

Her sharp observations and wonderfully distinctive perspective have made her a favourite on the UK comedy circuit.

Stephen Carlin

Stephen Carlin is an acclaimed Scottish stand-up comedian and writer known for his sharp wit, distinctive delivery and brilliantly original observations.

He has been hand-picked to support both Stephen Merchant and Stewart Lee on nationwide tours and has written for BBC Radio 4 programmes including The Now Show.

Stewart Lee has previously named Stephen among his “Ten Best Stand-Up Comedians Ever,” while Kevin Bridges describes him simply as:

“A quality comedian. Recommended!”

Hosted by Victoria Smith

The evening will be hosted by Wokingham’s own Victoria Smith, a vibrant comedian and compère known for her quick wit, infectious energy and brilliant audience interaction.

Victoria’s warm, playful style makes her the perfect host to keep our first ever comedy night moving – and the laughs coming – from start to finish.
