The diversity of wildlife is part of what makes the Beaver Hills Biosphere special. Black bears are among the many mammals that can be found throughout the Biosphere. If you live in the Biosphere, it is important to know what you can do to co-exist with bears on this dynamic Alberta landscape.

Join us at this informative FREE workshop where you'll hear from keynote speaker, Ramona Maraj, Ecologist Team Lead with Parks Canada / Elk Island National Park about:

  • The prevalence of bears in the Biosphere
  • Black bear biology and behaviour
  • General bear awareness and safety
  • Specific actions you can take to live in harmony with bears and minimize the risk of conflict

You'll also have an opportunity to ask questions and chat with our speakers and Biosphere staff after the presentation.

What you learn at this workshop will help you understand how you can be part of this lived-in and working landscape where coexistence between people and wildlife is an underlying principle.
