A luminous and uplifting programme of ancient and modern music especially arranged for clarinet violin and cello exploring a sense of the divine and the ephemeral through dreams, fantasy, prayers and purity.
Clarinettist Stuart King, violinist Caroline Balding and cellist Clare O’Connell share music ranging from renaissance to ultra contemporary, containing freedom of form, polyphony and the weaving of lines between this unusual combination of instruments.
14th century composer Marco Piero, 15th century composer Alexander Agricola, and 17th century composer Orlando Gibbons are set alongside young 21st century composers William Marsey, Isabella Gellis; and at the heart of the programme lies Deborah Pritchard’s 'Rosa Celeste' written for us in 2016, inspired by Gustav Doré’s illustration of the rose in Dante's 'Divine Comedy’, and portraying the essence of an angel gradually coming into focus.
