Rope Lab

Our Rope Lab is where we hope to foster a peer to peer learning experience.

We want to provide the space for you to practice your shibari at your own level, while learning from those around you. This can be done alone, with your regular tying partner or someone you’ve met at the event.

All forms of bondage are encouraged, from tying yourself, to practicing what you’ve learnt in class. We encourage you to explore what you’ve learnt from floor work to partials to suspensions! (Please the within your skill level.)

While our teachers may be at the event, this is not a teaching event and will not be held as such.

About Rope Labs

For who?

Rope Labs are for everyone, they are a great place to meet potential tying partners, for the first time or for a planned tying session. It's also a great time to exchange ideas or watch and learn. Regardless your skill level this event is for you.

Please note: Induction is NOT mandatory for this event.

Do I need a partner?

No, but it would be beneficial. You can always practice on yourself or just watch and learn. Singles are welcome to come and meet new people to tie, but this may not happen.

The best place to meet a potential rope partner is during class and at our other jams and social events. We also have a dedicated Buddy Channel in our Telegram group (you can request to be added in person).

What do I need to bring and wear?

For rope labs you can wear whatever you'd like, you can dress up more like our jams (dresses, collared shirts, lingerie etc) but you could also wear clothing like our classes (yoga attire), anything that makes you feel comfortable.

Where, when and how much?

BKD events are held in a central, easily accessible venue in Belfast. It is walking distance from the train station and there is free parking. Directions will be detailed in an email after booking. Doors open 15 minutes before the start time. Rope Lab is £15, but we also offer a few discounted tickets every class for those who need it. If you'd like to help support our space you can also pay 'a little extra'.
