The trailblazing career of Lee Miller at Tate Britain | SECOND DATE

Gifted beautiful and rebellious, Lee Miller’s career took her from the fashion pages of Vogue as one of the most sought-after models of the 1920s, to the front line of the Second World War. Her work behind the camera - first as a Surrealist photographer and later as a war correspondent - expanded the boundaries of photographic expression and she quickly became a leading figure in avant garde scenes of London, Paris and Cairo. To tie in with Tate Britain’s extensive retrospective (2 October 2025 – 15 February 2026), Cindy Polemis showcases the work of this extraordinary woman.

About the Speaker

Cindy Polemis is an art historian and an independent lecturer. A graduate of Oxford University and Birkbeck College, she spent many years as a radio producer and presenter for BBC World Service. Since 2016 she has been a lecturer and official art guide at Tate Modern and Tate Britain. She is also an accredited lecturer for The Arts Society and other independent organisations.
