Eco-printing on fabric – let the plants do the work

Thu 15 Oct 2026 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM BST Bell House, SE21 7BG

In this immersive workshop you will use the power of plants to print directly onto fabric – no screens, just leaves, petals and the simple alchemy of heat and pressure.

Eco-printing is a traditional technique in which plant material is bundled or pressed against natural fabric and steamed or boiled to transfer colour and form. The results are always surprising – ghostly, botanical and completely unique. You will work with a selection of seasonal plants and leaves, chosen for their colour and tannin content, to create your own piece of printed fabric to take home. The session is relaxed and exploratory – perfect for beginners and those with some textile experience alike. All materials are provided.

The workshop is led by Zoë Burt, a London-based artist whose practice connects ecology, imagination and material culture through drawing, textiles and plant-based processes. (@zoeburtuk Instagram)

Please bring a notebook for personal notes. Protective gloves will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer. An apron is recommended.
