Dates

Cost

£250 for two full days

Programme

This two-day, intermediate-level course will introduce students to techniques for making bottles and vases.

  • Day 1 will include throwing taller cylinders; collaring in and bellying out; combining these skills to create bottle or vase forms.
  • Day 2 will cover trimming techniques, including the use of chucks.

You can choose up to six pots which will be glazed and fired for you.

Please note that

This course will not cover the basics of centering, pulling up or trimming. Participants need to be comfortable with these skills before signing up to the course.

The teacher - Clare Spindler

Clare’s creative focus is functional ceramics in stoneware and porcelain, fired in oxidation and reduction.

While the majority of Clare’s work is wheel-thrown, she also produces decorative pieces combining thrown, altered and hand-built components. Clare is the studio manager at In Production from Turning Earth, a communal studio for professional makers based in Leyton. She is also a teacher at Turning Earth and Crown Works Pottery.
