Throwing on the Wheel, all levels, with Birgit Pohl - 5-week course for adults

Cost:

 £200 for five 2-hour sessions.

Courses are on a Monday afternoon or Wednesday evening and last for five weeks. Click 'Buy Tickets' to see available dates.

During the weekly 2-hour sessions:

• This is an ideal follow on course for those who have been on a 2-hour Taster course
• Beginners will have a first go at centering clay on the wheel, throwing cylinders and bowls.
• More advanced students will learn how to throw bigger and more challenging shapes.
• You will also learn how to finish your pots and how to glaze them.
• You can keep up to six pots which will be fired for you at the end of this course. 
• The cost of all materials and firings is included in your course fee.

Please note:

• This course is for adults, aged 18 and over. 
• Throwing on the wheel can be a messy business and aprons will not be provided. Please wear appropriate clothing.

About the teacher: Birgit Pohl

• Birgit makes wheel-thrown functional and decorative porcelain pots from her studio in Forest Hill. Her pieces are hand-decorated in her signature style, conveying a love for early to mid-20^th century art and design.
• She studied at Clay College, Stoke-on-Trent, where she discovered her love for porcelain. In 2023, Birgit became a Selected Member of the Craft Potters Association and her work has been exhibited in various locations including Celebrating Ceramics Oxford, Potfest Compton Verney, Art in Clay Farnham and Handmade Chelsea.
• Birgit is experienced in teaching wheel-throwing courses and specialised workshops for all levels. She particularly enjoys helping students develop their own language in ceramics.
