Throwing on the Wheel, all levels, with Joanna Szwej-Hawkin - 5-week course for adults

During the weekly 2-hour sessions:

• This is an ideal follow on course for those who have been on a 2-hour Taster course
  
• Beginners will have a first go at centering clay on the wheel, throwing cylinders and bowls.
  
• More advanced students will learn how to throw bigger and more challenging shapes.
• You will also learn how to finish your pots and how to glaze them.
• You can keep up to six pots which will be fired for you at the end of this course. 
• The cost of all materials and firings are included in your course fee.

Please note:

• This course is for adults, aged 18 and over.
• Throwing on the wheel can be a messy business and aprons will not be provided. Please wear appropriate clothing.

About the teacher: Joanna Szwej-Hawkin

• Joanna works from her studio in Nunhead, making decorative and functional pieces in earthenware or stoneware clay. She makes limited editions and one-off pieces.
• Joanna won Best Hand-built Exhibit at the London Potters Members Exhibition in 2022 and Judges Choice at the Exhibition in 2023.
• As an experienced tutor in throwing on the wheel and hand-building, she provides hands-on demonstrations, guidance and feedback to students of all levels. She assists students in developing personal projects and facilitates a supportive environment to encourage their expression through ceramic art.
