4th Annual Virtual Alumni Diversity Forum
Fri Oct 11, 2024 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM PDT
Online, Zoom
Description
Come together with your Haas community–prospective and current students, faculty, staff, and alumni– for a thought-provoking virtual program designed for current and future business leaders committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
Inclusion at Work: Building Organization-Level Allyship and Psychological Safety
As the national debate over diversity, equity, and inclusion practices evolves, organization-level inclusion signaling has been hailed by some as necessary for social progress and condemned by others as exclusionary or discriminatory toward groups that are not targeted. Thus, inclusion signaling by organizations remains a contentious issue in both social, political, and academic debate.
Join us for a lecture from Dr. Alexandra Figueroa, Postdoctoral Scholar in Racial Equity, at Berkeley Haas. Her work examines organizational-level inclusion signals and their subsequent effects on employees. Answering the call for more research on concealable stigmatized identities, we consider the effect of such organization-level inclusion signals for sexual and gender minorities (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender employees) while also considering the effect on non-target employees.
