BGP Presents Fall Sunday Sessions: Joey Kipp
Join us in the studio for a 2.5-hour workshop with dance artist Joey Kipp.
Sunday, October | 12:00–2:30 PM
Bushwick, Brooklyn
Off the L at Morgan Ave
Sliding scale: $15–30
Workshop Description
Class will consist of an athletic warm up inspired my blaze ferrer. From there we will do some mapping scores and durational scores. What is it like to go from our improvisational brain to then learning and performing phrase work? As we explore working with in and outside of these boundaries we will practice the process of having to both improvise and learning/executing set material and playing with what that even means. Sneakers and socks are required.
All bodies and levels of experience are welcome. Please reach out with any accessibility needs so that we can do our best to accommodate you.
Now in its 4th year, Sunday Sessions is a workshop series inviting participants to learn embodied practices from dance artists working across improvisation, choreography, and intersections of neurodivergence and queer creative research.
Each artist leads a 2.5-hour session, sharing tools and approaches from their own creative practice through a physical, in-person experience. Sessions invite movers to explore individual movement invention, experimentation, and ensemble practices, opening up possibilities for connecting with others and building each moment together.
The studio is located in an older Bushwick arts building and is not a traditional dance space. Wear comfortable clothing you can move in.
Presented and produced by Beth Graczyk Productions (BGP) as part of our Fall Sunday Sessions.
