Data Technicality level: Level 2 🟣 Working Level – Apply: The event is suitable for those with some experience, focusing on practical use and real‑world application.
About the event
AI relies on data that is trustworthy, usable and appropriate for its intended purpose, but “AI-ready” does not mean the same thing in every context.
This session will introduce the UK Government’s guidance on making datasets ready for AI and its four pillars: technical optimisation; data and metadata quality; organisational and infrastructure context; and legal, security and ethical compliance.
Participants will hear how the guidance can support practical assessment and improvement of public-sector datasets, including through its action plan and self-assessment checklist.
We will also discuss lessons emerging since publication, including the need for proportionate, use-case-led decisions and clearer routes from principles to implementation. The session will conclude with an open Q&A and an invitation to share examples, challenges and priorities that can inform the next iteration of the guidance.
Speaker
An Nguyen leads the AI and Data Readiness team within the Government Digital Service. The team brings together product, user-centred design, data science and engineering to help public-sector organisations turn responsible AI and data principles into practical outcomes.
Why join the event?
Join to understand what AI-ready data means for your organisation, learn how to apply the guidance to real datasets and contribute your experience to its next iteration. Bring a dataset, use case or recurring data challenge to consider during the session.
