Whether you are an experienced Onyfix provider, new to the Onyfix Nail Correction System, or considering adding Onyfix to your practice, this complimentary continuing education webinar will provide valuable clinical insight into Distal Nail Bed Retraction, commonly known as "Disappearing Nail Bed Syndrome."

Learn how this often-overlooked condition develops and discover how the Onyfix Nail Correction System offers a conservative, non-invasive treatment option that can help restore healthy nail growth while reducing discomfort and minimizing further trauma.

What is Distal Nail Bed Retraction?

Distal Nail Bed Retraction is a progressive condition in which the nail bed gradually recedes, causing the visible nail plate to appear shorter over time.

It is most commonly associated with repeated trauma or chronic stress to the nail, including:

  • Previous nail surgery
  • Long-standing nail lifting (onycholysis)
  • Repetitive mechanical pressure or footwear trauma

In some cases, fungal nail infections or compromised circulation

As the condition progresses, the hyponychium advances toward the tip of the toe, reducing the area of nail attachment. This often results in a shortened nail with a lifted or detached distal edge.

Without appropriate intervention, continued recession of the nail bed may prevent normal nail reattachment, increasing the risk of recurrent ingrown nails, ongoing discomfort, and cosmetic concerns.

How Can Onyfix Help?

Discover how the Onyfix Nail Correction System can help guide natural nail growth, reduce mechanical pressure on the nail, and minimize additional trauma—providing patients with a comfortable, non-invasive treatment option while supporting long-term nail restoration.
