Fire & Song
Fire & Song Sessions
A gathering of voices, and shared ritual around the fire.
We’re inviting people to come together to sing, listen, and reconnect - with themselves, each other, and the ancient presence of fire.
Across human history, fire has been a place of gathering: a source of warmth and protection, a keeper of stories, a threshold for ritual and renewal. Fire protects, it illuminates, transforms and makes way for new life. It teaches us about presence, attention, and relationship. When we sit with fire, we are invited to slow down, to listen, and to remember what it means to be in community.
Many cultures across the globe understand the Fire to be a living being. This is your invitation to deepen your relationship with the Fire, yourself and the web of life, by interacting with it as an animate presence.
Alongside the fire, we will sing together.
Songs will be shared and learned as a group, alongside moments of intuitive and improvised singing. No singing experience is needed.
The sessions take place from late afternoon into dusk, as the sun goes down. There is room for silence as well as sound, for participation or simply being there. The emphasis is on being together and held by the circle in a space of reflection, celebration, connection and remembering.
Dates and times:
Sat 28 March and Sat 18 April
6:00pm - 8:30pm
Please wear warm clothes and suitable shoes for the weather and bring water, a flask of tea, a blanket - whatever you need to be comfortable.
If driving it is best to park at Patchway carpark near One Garden in Stanmer Park. The site is a short walk from there.
At the back of the Patchway car park there is a track - follow this to the end and turn right. You will see the Ecomusicology plot just there on your left. More information provided when you book.
We look forward to singing with you :)
About the facilitators
Bex Fidler
Bex is a participatory artist, creative producer, singer and vocal facilitator working in applied arts across social and community contexts. Her work is rooted in over fifteen years of practice creating ambitious, socially engaged projects that support people - particularly those facing systemic barriers, to express themselves, build connection and be heard.
She founded and led Miss Represented, a nationally recognised cross-arts project with young women affected by exclusion, trauma and the criminal justice system, and continues to design creative programmes alongside delivering training in trauma-informed and psychologically informed practice.
Voice, singing and collaborative vocal improvisation are now at the heart of her work. Through courses such as Circle Singing & the Healing Voice, Enchanting the Land, and Rise & Resonate, as well as new projects like MotherSong, Bex brings sound and singing into community, wellbeing and nature-connected settings, creating spaces for healing, expression and collective connection.
Eloise Minton
Eloise is a singer, DJ, therapist and Firekeeper who works ceremonially with Fire as a living teacher and ally.
Since 2023, she has been Fire Team Lead at Medicine Festival, as well as tending the Fires and the Fire teams for Solstice on the Mount and Equinox gatherings at Wasing Estate and other events across the UK. Working at the forefront of an emergent field holding ceremonial Fires at large events; bringing tools for connection, personal reflection and cultural repair to a broader audience.
Her work is informed by universal principles of service, reverence, gratitude and reciprocity, drawing on Lakota teachings and training since 2018, personal fire quests, and ongoing skill-sharing with fellow Firekeepers. Above all, her greatest teacher is the Fire itself.
Eloise trained in jazz vocals at Chichester College and studied music theory at Goldsmiths, London, performing in numerous musical projects over the years. Her work now focuses on weaving together earth-based practices, movement, and voice to explore how embodied connection can foster community and wellbeing. Drawing inspiration from cultures that sustain deep relationships with nature, she supports people in reconnecting with the elements, the land, each other, and the living intelligence within themselves, encouraging everyone to find their own authentic way of connecting.
