Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon)
Sun 22 Sep 2024 4:00 AM - 10:30 AM
Pen y Gwryd - A5 lay-bys
Description
Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa in Welsh) is the highest mountain in Wales and England where we will take the Pyg Track up to the summit and back down via the Miners Path, with the opportunity for a wild swim in Glaslyn on our return.
We will park on the roadside, so this will add a few extra miles onto our journey.
We will meet outside the toilets at Pen Y Pass Car Park for briefing - so if you wish to decide to pay for parking in that carpark, please be there for 3:30am.
Please note, this hike is open to all (over 18).

About your guide:
Hi, I'm Emily and I'm a qualified and insured Mountain Leader and Level 3 Outdoors First Aid certified.
If you know me, you will probably know North Wales is one of my favourite places to go and explore, and there is still so much more I have to do there.
I am hugely passionate about bringing women together in a safe space in the outdoors. I know first hand what it can feel like to be overwhelmed by huge groups of new people, that's why my aim is to keep these group walks small, so you can take the time to get to chat and meet likeminded women.
Kit List:
I will share a full kit list with your welcome email, but here is a brief idea.
- Head torch
- Spare batteries
- Back pack
- Hiking boots / shoes
- Food / snacks
- Water (bring plenty)
- Waterproofs - jacket and coat
- Layers
Toilets:
There are public toilets available in the car park at Pen y Pass and whilst out on our walk we will have to fully embrace the 'wild wee'.
Parking:
You will need to pay for parking, and this is CASH ONLY. From memory this is £4-£8 and they do issue parking tickets along this road.
If you cannot get in this lay-by, there are numerous lay-bys along this road that you can park in.

You can also park at Pen y Pass Car Park if you prefer (please let me know if you do, so I know where to meet you). This is a Pay and Display and you MUST pre-book a parking space
Safety:
I aim to make these as safe and enjoyable as possible for everyone, so this will be kept to a nice and steady pace, with plenty of opportunities to stop, catch your breath, take a chat and admire the views. If you are unsure if you as to whether you are fit enough or have any health issues, please let me know.
