Hen Cloud and Lud's Church

Hen Cloud and Lud's Church is a beautiful walk in the Peak District. 

This is a rocky ridge above Leek with it's rock formations, taking you past Doxey's Pool and the Roaches trig point before we head over to the mysterious Lud's Church which is a deep moss covered chasm 

Hike Details:

Distance: 8 miles / 13km  

Start: 8:30am 

Duration: 6-7 hours (approx)

Elevation: 2,019ft  

Terrain: This is a mix of terrain with uneven paths, short scramble (but nothing too exposed)

About your guide:

Hi, I'm Emily and I'm a qualified and insured Mountain Leader and Level 3 Outdoors First Aid certified. 

I am hugely passionate about bringing women together in a safe space in the outdoors. I know first hand what it can feel like to be overwhelmed by huge groups of new people, that's why my aim is to keep these group walks small, so you can take the time to get to chat and meet likeminded women.

Kit List:

I will share a full kit list with your welcome email, but here is a brief idea.

• Head torch 
• Spare batteries 
• Back pack
• Hiking boots / shoes
• Food / snacks
• Water (bring plenty)
• Waterproofs - jacket and coat
• Layers

Toilets:

There are public toilets available at the cafe - but they may be closed this time of year, so we will need to embrace a 'wild wee'. 

Parking:

There are free lay-by's along this section of road if you follow it own past the cafe (which will be on your left) and several lay-by's along that road offer free parking. Please ensure you park within the lay-by's and not on a verge as they do monitor parking on this road and won't hesitate issuing a parking ticket.

I aim to make these as safe and enjoyable as possible for everyone, so this will be kept to a nice and steady pace, with plenty of opportunities to stop, catch your breath, snack, take a chat and admire the views.
