As forced labour enforcement becomes a global trade priority, how are regulators, corporates, and commercial lawyers operationalising the ILO’s Forced Labour Indicators? Over the past year, the Business and Human Rights Lawyers Association, in collaboration with the Center for Business and Human Rights at NYU Stern School of Business, have been researching this and associated questions of practice, to inform ongoing investigative, enforcement, compliance and remediation efforts.

This evening drinks reception, hosted by the Permanent Mission of Canada to the United Nations in Geneva in collaboration with the Business and Human Rights Lawyers Association and the NYU Stern Center for Business and Human Rights, will focus on three key issues facing the field: are the ILO Forced Labour Indicators fit for purpose? What are the comparative strengths of the EU market ban on forced labour vis a vis North American and other emerging forced labour import bans? Are trade measures well suited to advance global forced labour prevention, mitigation and remediation efforts?
