“Coaching Neurodivergent Young People”

7.30pm to 9.30pm

This two hour in person workshop will provide tools to support inclusive coaching. It will be particularly focused on equine assisted learning practices and will assist those coaches working in that area of work.

You will learn about:-

• Understanding neurodivergence in equestrian youth settings
• Sensory and communication differences in 11-17 year olds
• Creating predictable, low-stress coaching environments
• Supporting emotional regulation and transitions
• Practical adaptations for lessons, stable management, and yard routines
• Real-life scenarios drawn from equestrian programmes
• Quick-win micro-changes for immediate implementation

This workshop is supportive of the BHS Ireland Learning with Horses Programme and is funded by Children in Need.

It will count as 2 CPD points for BHS Accredited Professional Coaches.

Cost:- Free of Charge (Funded by Children in Need)

Tea/Coffee and Biscuits will be provided on the evening.

About Jo Aungiers

Jo has a degree in Social Administration and Policy with a research background into social care and provision. She is also a BHSAI and has coached since 2003. She was a supply lecturer at CAFRE Enniskillen College for 8 years and has a lifelong interest in neurodivergence which led to Sport Ireland funded research into supporting neurodivergent athletes and sports coaches.

Jo is currently a Sport Ireland Coach Developer and has been delivering courses for Rowing Ireland since 2021 and delivering training on neurodivergence for Sport Ireland Coach Education Officers from National Governing Bodies across Ireland.
