BHS Volunteer Welfare CPD & Social Day
This day is designed as a CPD opportunity for BHS volunteer Welfare Advisers but it is open to any volunteers who would like to come.
The morning session will begin at 10 am with a talk by Phoebe Barker MA VetMB MRCVS. Phoebe will provide an update on some common conditions, practices and treatments. There have been many recent advances in terms of; diagnosis, understanding of different conditions (such as EMS and PSSM) and available treatment plans. Vaccinations and commonly used drugs, as well as diagnostic imaging and orthopaedic care, also continue to develop. Whilst we will always only advise clients to seek veterinary advice, it is beneficial and interesting to continue to expand our own understanding of current veterinary care.
At approximately 12 pm we will break and lunch will be provided. This will be a nice opportunity to catch up with fellow volunteers.
The afternoon session will begin at 1 pm. This will be a talk with Fiona Watkins, Independent Equine Nutritionist, BSc, Pro Dip. Fiona is a fully qualified, professional independent nutritionist. Fiona has operated her own business 'The Horse Nutritionist' for the past fifteen years. She has extensive practical knowledge of all aspects of equine nutrition, clinical and sports, together with 'hands on' experience of an international and highly varied client base. Fiona has written for several leading publications including 'Horse and Rider' and 'Horse Magazine'.
There will be an opportunities to ask questions and have discussions during both sessions.
At 3 pm everyone is welcome to stay for tea and cake (if anyone is able to bring some cake, that would be amazing!) or head home if you need to get away sooner.
We really hope you can join us for the day
