Thanks to the changes brought about by multiple lockdowns many owners have chosen over the last year to carry out more exercise of horses and ponies from the ground to reduce risks relating to mounted activity or to bring horses back into work after having had some time off.
This event will cover lunging, long lining techniques and equipment. The session will look at...
The British Thoroughbred Retraining Centre (BTRC) is dedicated to the Welfare, Rehabilitation, Retraining and Rehoming of Retired Racehorses. As such they have become experts in assessment, retraining and long term maintenance of the horses they rehome. Much of this work takes place from the ground often 'between the lines' whether that be lunging with multiple techniques or longlining both in an arena and outside in different environments which helps the training and development of their horses. This has proven to be an essential tool when used correctly with adequate knowledge and experience. This makes the BTRC team the perfect partner to deliver this training clinic.
Presenters include Gillian Carlisle, BTRC CEO and experienced BHS Stage 4 Coach in Complete Horsemanship, who has previously managed equine operations for the Hong Kong Jockey Club, rehabilitating and retraining retired racehorse for many successful years. All presenting will be lead rehabilitation supervisor Charlotte Bewley. Charlotte has a wealth of knowledge, experience and passion through her long career working with horses, both riding and from the ground. Charlotte holds BHS Stage 1 and 2 qualifications along with a National Certificate in Horse care and Management.
There will be plenty of time for discussion and questions during this informal session.
