Challenging Questions Only, Maths A-Level (Recording available immediately)

Sat 2 May 2026 9:30 AM - Thu 11 Jun 2026 12:30 PM BST Online, Zoom

This session has all taken place already - if you purchase a ticket for the recording, you will receive the recording of the session, plus all other relevant materials, in the confirmation email.

Thank you for considering purchasing the recording of one of my 'Challenging Questions Only' session.

I will be using a selection of questions from the exceptional Madas Maths to really challenge you and get you prepared for the exams. I am being very careful about which questions I am using - I am not selecting ones that are off specification, or unnecessarily complex - instead, I am selecting ones that I think will support your learning, strengthen your understanding, and increase your confidence... whilst still being challenging, of course!

It is designed for students who are reaching for the top grades, and want to expose themselves to some really tricky kinds of questions.

Tickets are £15 each for a 2.5 hour session, plus additional video of challenging questions!

Please note that this will be a challenging and intense session!

Topics covered:
Indices, Logs, Exponentials
Connected rates of change
Sequences and series
Vectors
Connected particles (Mechanics)
Moments (Mechanics)
Probability (Statistics)

Important Information:

  • This session is 2.5 hours, including two short breaks
  • If attending live, there are plenty of opportunities to interact and ask questions
  • In addition, there are extra questions provided for you to complete after the session, with accompanying video solutions (~1 hour of extra video content)
  • The sessions are held on Zoom
  • Slides will be shared in advance should you want to try some of the questions before hand - but this is not required
  • The session is recorded and will be shared as soon as it has finished
  • The annotated slides will also be shared immediately after the session

FAQs

  • I can't attend live! What should I do?
    • Purchase the ticket as normal, and after the live session finishes, you will still be sent the recording, alongside all the other materials used in the session!
  • I receive FSM/a bursary - is there a discount available?
    • Yes! Please email bicen@bicenmaths.uk with proof of your FSM/bursary status (your name must be shown as part of the evidence) - I will then generate a unique discount code for you to use
  • I am really struggling with maths right now - is this for me?
    • My honest answer is no - this is going to be a fast paced, challenging session, designed for students who are wanting to secure top marks. Whilst I'm sure there are plenty of things you could gain from it, I would recommend the Aiming for A* sessions instead, that have a broader range of question types and challenge levels.

Comments from previous attendees:

"Really clear, well structured and efficient, covering all aspects of the topic!"

"They were really helpful and engaging, Mr Bicen showed us a variety of questions that usually scare students. But the way he teaches makes it seem simple and logical, making me feel more confident in my approach to challenging questions, and this understanding is solidified when we're given 'your turn' questions. The video solutions to these questions are incredibly helpful too and having the Zoom recordings is so reassuring I've found myself going back to these while trying to answer other questions."

"The session was really helpful! I felt comfortable in asking questions to which were answered to a very high standard and help! I understand the structure on how to approach a question which I think is very important. Thank you so much! "

"I found it very useful - I especially liked the inclusion of some difficult questions as they are a good way to (perhaps over-) prepare for the exams this summer"

"All of them were so helpful. When I’m going through questions by myself and looking through the mark scheme, it can sometimes be confusing. It was great to do questions and hear the explanation live. I can definitely say that I have learned a lot of new techniques and tricks. I feel much more confident for my upcoming mocks"

"Very helpful! Really built up my confidence in harder topic areas as well as refreshing some bits. Excellent value for money and would recommend to anyone!

"It was really well organised and I could tell that a lot of thought was put into the sessions! I loved doing the warm up questions as it really got me in the right headspace and I especially loved the ratings on each of the questions as I usually get stressed when I come across a question I find difficult and I can't tell if it's meant to be difficult or not (lol). The break is timed really well and I never felt myself getting tired as it was so interactive and dare I say, made maths a fun subject. I would highly recommend these to friends and if there are more sessions in April, I will definitely be attending."

"The sessions are amazing! Mr Bicen picks out questions that we've likely never seen before but will still reflect the type of questions that might come up in our exams in the summer. He explains his working out so thoroughly and always stops to answer any questions that have been asked to make sure we all understand. Every session that I've attended has been so good and has really ensured that I know the topics when leaving the masterclasses."

"It was brilliant super helpful and I would totally recommend this to anyone I feel much more confident with my maths skills and Mr Bicen is so easy to understand and teaches very well"

"Incredibly excited that I was able to attend. Great atmosphere and structure. As somebody who struggled with modelling questions, Bicen did a great job explaining and simplifying the ideas. Overall fantastic and valuable for any A-Level maths student."
