Big Ideas: New Standards

Big Ideas presents large ensemble jazz, improvised, & experimental music performed by a rotating lineup of musicians based across the North of England.

Join us for a very special programme of music freshly written/arranged by Northern-based women and gender minority writers and performed by a specially assembled 18 piece all FLINTA* big band drawn from across the region. Alongside a number of original compositions, the set also features arrangements of pieces featured in Terri Lyne Carrington's groundbreaking New Standards project at Berklee's Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice, work which emerged from the observation that only one composition by a woman was included in the traditional jazz Real Book.

(FLINTA*: Female, Lesbian, Intersex, Non-binary, Trans, Agender)
