Learn the bird sounds of woods and parkland
In this early morning outdoor workshop, we explore how to identify common birds by sound in one of London's wildest parks.
Each ‘walkshop’ includes:
- Before the day, step-by-step audio lessons on how to tell five key species by ear
- A gentle 2.5-hour walk with frequent stops around the parkland, watersides and woodland of Wimbledon Common.
- Potential species encountered will include Firecrest, Grey Wagtail, Mistle Thrush, Nuthatch, Treecreeper, Tawny Owl, Goldcrest, Green Woodpecker and Stock Dove.
- A sit-down Q&A session to end the morning (with optional refreshments).
- Easy access by bus, bike or car
- Small group size (maximum 10 participants)
- Starts 7.15am, finishes 10.30am
This workshop is led by Birdsong Academy founder Charlie Peverett.

LOCATION: The exact meeting point will be confirmed a week before the walkshop.
WEATHER: The walk will go ahead unless there's a weather warning for rain or wind in place, in which case you will be notified on the previous day at the latest. In this case tickets will be transferrable to alternative dates.
CHILDREN: Accompanied children 10+ are welcome to attend, but dogs need to be left at home for this one.
