This workshop is aimed at complete beginners or those who have spun a little but want to troubleshoot some common problems that beginners experience. We will cover:

Basic attributes of wool and other fibres

Staple length (very important!)

Things to look out for in a fibre

The mechanics of twist

Making a leader and attaching it to your spindle

The ‘park and draft’ technique

Basic trouble shooting (overspin, underspin, lumps and bumps, backspinning)

A quick overview of plying and finishing.

All materials will be provided, with the option to purchase your spindle at a discount at the end of the workshop.
