Citadel Pictures Presents 'The Burying Party' poetry and Q&A

Richard Weston, Director of the award winning biopic about war poet, Wilfred Owen  will present 'The Burying Party' and answer questions about the challenges of portraying a historical figure. Birkenhead Park Rugby club is the perfect venue for this event because it was here in October 1914 that it acted as a cavalry preparation unit. Subsequently 75 players from the club perished in the Great War. including international players such as 'Toggie' Kendall. The evening will focus on Owen who lived a mile or so away from the ground. Wirral Poetry Festival winner, Linda Thompson will contribute and Park's own bard, Steve O'Keefe has written a poem about that equestrian event for which pictures hang here at the clubhouse. Historian, Dr James Pardoe will run the Q&A.
