Living with a Star with Professor Lyndsay Fletcher
Our nearest star, the Sun, provides us with the energy necessary for life on Earth. But it can also pose a threat, due to sudden and unpredictable energy releases within its atmosphere, known as flares and coronal mass ejections. In this talk I will give an overview of the Sun and solar activity, including its magnetic field, sunspots, active regions, solar flares and coronal mass ejections, and the impact of these on Earth.
