Going Deeper with Abhayadhara
How to pay attention: A Buddhist guide

'Awareness is revolutionary' wrote Sangharakshita

How we pay attention and the extent to which we do so profoundly affects the quality of our lives. This is a fundamental Buddhist teaching. This course will be a practical exploration of the Buddha's teachings on paying attention (or mindfulness) as a path to liberation. Using Maitreyabandhu's excellent book 'Life with full attention' as a guide, we will be practising the art of paying ever more compassionate and wise attention to different aspects of life. The course will consist of meditation, short talks and group discussion.

All our classes and events are run by donation on a give what you can basis. There is no fixed fee.
'By donation' is a radical economy, read more about it here.

Tuesdays from 15 September - 20 October
Sessions run from 7.15-9.15pm with a tea break in the middle.
Doors open at 7pm, feel free to arrive early to settle in.

About Going Deeper:

Once you have learnt the basics on our Introductory Courses you can continue exploring Buddhism and Meditation in Going Deeper.

As the name suggests, it is an invitation to go deeper—patiently, honestly, and with curiosity. We will explore how core Buddhist teachings unfold through sustained exploration: how insight matures, how obstacles become teachers, and how the Dharma can be integrated into the complexities of modern life. The emphasis is on depth, discernment, and lived experience.

You don’t need to think of yourself as a Buddhist, just someone who’s interested. Alternatively you may have been coming for a while and something in this theme speaks to you. All levels of experience are welcome.
